PROJECT AIMS

• Creating a public service system website/app that will be a source for information relevant to their location/ given information in emergencies or disasters.

• The website/app will be utilised in natural disasters and disease outbreaks. We will be using the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak as an example of an event that this app/website could be used for which will aid in creating the solution.

• Will be extremely accessible to all demographics due to its necessity in a crisis.
• Help the public prepare for whatever emergency arises, ideally with enough time to react.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Problems
-Designing an app/website that communicates information effectively.
-Work together well as a team.

Research
-   Research what type of websites/apps already exist and what they lack
-   Find out which open source apps we can use for maps and is it different between ios, android and Web browser

-   Find out if the information can be automated or does it have to be curated for every area.
-Find out what app/website layout is best for communicating information.

Logistics

-   Can it be open-source/ user submitted for things that might not be highly covered in smaller local areas e.g. towns outside of Cork.
-Should the user have an account.
-How do we make sure that each person sees what is most relevant to them.

Design

-   The user interface has to be accessible to everyone and meet the audience's needs.

- Find out what type of notifications work for everyone.

-   Should the notifications show the relevancy of the emergency. Like a red, orange and yellow warning.

Misc

-   Could news companies help in the gathering of information in exchange for promotion e.g Cork online newspaper reports about Covoid 19 so the notification redirects you to their website.
